Next Level U Statement
My name is Holden Muscat, I’m 16 years old, and a catcher for the U17 Barrie Baycats High-Performance baseball team. Baseball is my passion and I have put in countless hours to keep improving my game. I’m all about being a team player and having my teammates’ backs, both on and off the field.
Outside of team practices, I train five days a week with a private fitness coach, focusing on catcher-specific skills and overall athletic performance. My training includes strength and mobility work, yoga, plyometrics, and breathing exercises that are all designed to help me be the best athlete I can be. Behind the plate, I take pride in leading my team, controlling the game, and making smart decisions under pressure. More than anything, I want to help build a strong team where we push each other to be better every day.
Academically, I’m just as dedicated. I plan to study Kinesiology because I want to understand how athletes can train smarter, recover faster, and stay healthy for longer. Learning about human movement, athletic performance, and injury prevention will not only help me in my own game but also allow me to contribute to the sports world.
My goal is to play college baseball at the highest competitive level in the U.S. while earning my degree. I know that playing at that level will challenge me to grow as a player and as a person, I’m ready for the opportunity to compete, represent my team, and continue my education.
At the end of the day, I want to make an impact—whether it’s leading my team, performing at my best, or helping other athletes reach their potential. I’m committed to working hard, staying focused, and chasing my passion for baseball and sports science.

Player Style:
I’m a strong defensive catcher with a high baseball IQ and natural leadership on and off the field. I take pride in managing the game, calling pitches, and shutting down the running game with quick, accurate throws. My speed and blocking ability helps me to protect the plate. I also bring a solid defensive game at third base with quick reflexes and a strong arm.
At the plate, I focus on being smart and disciplined at-bats, making solid contact and coming through in key situations. I love competing under pressure and always rise to the challenge. My work ethic is relentless—I’m constantly looking to improve, push myself, and compete at the highest level.
Player Strengths:
I’m a dedicated athlete who works hard every day to get better. As a catcher, I take pride in my defence, game management, and keeping everything under control on the field. My quick reflexes and strong arm also make me a solid defender at third base. I train five days a week, focusing on position-specific skills, strength, and conditioning to keep improving and perform at my best.
Leadership:
I am an Assistant Captain for the Jr. Blues Single-A hockey team, I lead by example with my hard work and determination. I motivate my teammates on and off the ice and bring energy and leadership to every game and practice.
Team History:
I started playing baseball in Collingwood, Ontario, at the T-Bal level, that’s where I fell in love with the game. As I improved, I moved up to Select and then Single-A. Wanting to push myself even more, I tried out for the Barrie Baycats AAA team and earned a spot on the High-Performance (HP) Elite team as a catcher. I currently still play for the Barrie Baycats U17 AAA HP team, constantly working on my game and competing at the highest level.
Throughout high school, I’ve been the starting catcher for the Collingwood Collegiate Institute (CCI) baseball team since Grade 9. Playing for my school has given me even more experience in leadership and teamwork, both on and off the field.
