2023 Golf Season Recap
2023 was my most successful season so far! It started in the winter and spring prep where I was part of the Provincial Development Squad to work on parts of my game in the offseason. We tackled fitness, nutrition, mental performance and swing mechanics. This gave me the edge in the spring to come out with strong finishes in May – winning 2 of the first two MJT tournaments. I was invited as a top 18 prospect to compete with other champions for an incredible experience and tournament in Alberta.
I set a goal last winter to make the Provincial Team and go to Nationals- I Did it! After a rain soaked event in round 3 I battled back from 6 back with 9 holes to play to clinch the 3rd spot on the team! This tournament was a huge event for my development.
After that I competed in our Provincial men’s Amateur and finished in the top 40 earning an exemption in to next year’s event.
The Golf Canada Next Gen in PEI saw me card my lowest competitive score. I fired a -4 (68) to catapult into 4th place among a strong field from across Canada.
In late August I played in a regional men’s Invitational where I placed 2nd with a two day total of +2 (70-74) against a strong field of 156 players.
The fall season will end with high school regionals and provincials in early October.
I will be continuing with the Provincial Development Team this fall and winter along with a fitness program with a trainer.
Focus in 2023 -Improved putting and flighting my wedges to deal with grass conditions and green slopes. My greens in regulations have improved from 12 to 15 in 2023.
2023 Tournament Scoring Average: 72.8
Focus in 2024 – Increasing driver lengths and shot shape with irons.
