First win of the year
On May 25th and 26th, I participated in the first MJT event of the year in the east coast of Canada and took home my first MJT win of the season.
We played the Chester Golf Club which is notorious for having high winds and cold temperatures. Going into this tournament i felt very confident in my game after shooting a consistent 73 in my practice round. My intentions for the tournament were to control my mental game and make the least amount of small mistakes as possible.
My goal for round one was to come out strong and confident and try to take the lead, which i did. After round one I had a one shot lead after shooting a 73.
Now that I had the lead my second round was about about maintaining that lead and playing my absolute best to make sure I secure that win.
I didnt focus on trying to shoot the lowest scores and win by a bunch because i feel like that’s the easiest way to lose a tournament and make all those small mistakes; I knew I could play a solid round as i had the day before so i focused on doing the same the next day. I didn’t play very good the second day I finished with a score of 79, but it was enough to come out on top.
There were a few holes where i could’ve gotten more aggressive and tried to make birdies or even eagles. I chose to take the safe route of trying to make the par instead. Overall i am very happy with the result and am going to continue to practice for my next tournament and hopefully next time I can tie 2 good rounds together and take home another win.
