Letter of Recommendation

1 February 2022 by Tyler Schaeffer

January 27, 2022

To Any Recruiting Officers/ Coaches,

I am writing this letter today in support of Mr. Tyler Schaeffer, as he takes another step forward with his potential recruitment and towards pursuing baseball at the college/university level. I have known Tyler and have been working with him privately for the past 4 years, after he showed a particular interest following a U13 hockey team training session. With consistent training usually two times per week year-round since then, I have gotten to know Tyler very well, both from a physical athletic performance standpoint, but also on a personal level. Tyler has shown a high level of maturity, accountability and an unrivaled commitment and dedication to improving himself both as an athlete and a person.
I am an NSCA-Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and I am the owner of Dairy Capital Strength & Conditioning in Woodstock, Ontario. My role with our athletes is to develop, evaluate and oversee the strength & conditioning training protocols that are tailored to the athlete’s goals, following a long-term athletic development model. As a strength coach in the private sector, Tyler’s attendance is completely voluntary, and he’s logged over 160 sessions in the gym with me all-time, which leads all of our athletes. He understands the benefits and necessity of the training when it comes to improving his baseball development, and because of this, has become invested in this process. With the growing demands on the schedule of a high-school athlete, and the balance necessary between school, sport practices & work, he schedules his sessions with me in advance, making it a top priority. He continues to show his maturity by having a grasp on his own schedule and allocating time for his other responsibilities. Throughout the numerous lockdowns we’ve experience here in Ontario keeping us out of the gyms and recreation centres, Tyler has also been quick to reach out himself for any assistance or suggestions for ways to keep improving while at home.
Working with numerous athletes of various ages and involved within different sports, I see a wide range of personalities and traits, irrespective of their athletic ability. Tyler’s work ethic and dedication is what makes him stand apart from the other athletes. As I said previously, he holds himself accountable for attending his training sessions, but he always arrives on-time as well, and with a good attitude ready to work and seek improvement! He knows what coaches expect of him, but also places his own high expectations on himself, and over the years that has propelled his improvement and dedication to the craft. He is also very encouraging of other athletes in the gym and shows many leadership qualities.
All in all, it is a reflection of Tyler’s reputation and character, paired with his athletic ability, that makes him such a great athlete to coach. Any institution/organization will be a better one with having this young man on board. I truly believe that Tyler easily deserves my recommendation and that he has the baseball aptitude to succeed and grow in a college/university program that will show an invested interest into his success on and off the field.
