Alexis Smith

I am a utility player who mostly plays shortstop, second and center field.

I am a type of player who loves the game deeply with all my heart. I put all my effort into every game I play because I love to see improvement and success. I am willing to do anything it takes to succeed not only as an individual but also as a team. I enjoy working and focussing on certain components of the game to improve and develop my skills.

I have many strengths when it comes to the game of softball. I am a strong outfielder who is able to track down any ball, whether it’s over my head, in the gap or in front of me. I am also a very fast runner both on offence and defence. I put hustle into all aspects of the game. I am great at putting the ball in play especially when I have two strikes against me. When hitting, I see the ball very well and I am able to make good contact majority of the time.

I have been on multiple teams between two club sports and multiple high school sports. In my club sports, I was named captain for my first year of U13 and my second year in U15 seasons as Brantford Diamondback and then as a Brantford Bobcat. In high school, I have been named captain for the basketball team in my second year of playing in junior. I have been named captain for my high school’s softball and slo-pitch team all 3 years I have been there so far. I have also been named captain of our Ultimate Frisbee team a couple times.

I first started playing for the Brantford Diamondbacks U13 Select team. I then moved up a level to Rep and played for the Brantford Bobcats Tier 1 team from my second year of U13 to my first year of U17. Once I entered high school, I have been playing for the St. John’s Eagles softball team. I am currently now playing for the Guelph Gators U17 Tier 1 team.

In elementary school, I won the French Award, the Physical Education Award and the Citizenship Award. I have won the Honour Roll Award (Average of 80% or higher in a minimum of 6 courses) at St. John’s College for all 3 years I have attended the school. Throughout my high school athletics career so far, I have won the MVP twice for basketball (once in junior and once in senior) and I have won the Iron Eagle Award (Captain Award) in basketball once and softball twice for leading my team to two championships. For the upcoming school year, I have been named the Athletic Council President to represent the student body of athletics at St. John’s College.

In U13 Select, my team and I won the Provincial Championships throughout the whole province of Ontario. We won multiple tournaments, almost going undefeated with a record of 19-1-1. Moving into Rep, in U13 and U15 we won many tournaments as well. In my second year of U15, my team finished 2nd at National Qualifiers in Ontario and attended the National Tournament in Île Perrot, Quebec. We battled in this tournament and came out with a 5th place finish across all of Canada. We also finished 4th in our first season and then 5th in our second season at provincials in U15. In U17, my Brantford team and I have won a couple tournaments. My Guelph team and I have competed well at each tournament while the competition gets tougher.

We are now approaching the National Qualifiers (Windsor, ON).
