Next Level U Statement

Hockey has been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember, and my goal as a student-athlete is to keep growing, competing, and reaching the highest level possible. I want to be a difference-maker on the ice, someone who plays hard every shift, supports teammates, and is always working to improve. I take pride in being coachable, disciplined, and committed to doing whatever it takes to help my team win.

Off the ice, I’m focused on working hard in my studies and balancing my academic goals with the demands of being a high-level athlete. The habits I’ve built through hockey, like time management, accountability, and perseverance are things that will help me succeed in both school and life. My ultimate goal is to represent my hockey program with pride, grow as a leader, and make the most of every opportunity the game gives me.

Positions:

Defence

Player Style:

As a defenceman, I take pride in being a strong, dependable presence in the defensive zone. I play a physical, shutdown style, winning battles along the boards, clearing the crease, and making smart, simple plays under pressure. Blocking shots is a big part of my game; I’m not afraid to put my body on the line to protect the net and support my goalie. My work ethic is one of my biggest strengths. I stay focused, compete hard every shift, and bring consistent energy to practices and games. I also bring value offensively with a hard, accurate shot from the point, especially during power plays or when creating traffic in front. I focus on keeping my gap tight, reading plays early, and making strong breakout passes to move the puck quickly.

Other Info:

I have been a hockey coach for 3 years:

Burlington Barracudas U7 – 2022/23, 2023/24

Burlington Barracudas U13A – 2024/25

Coaching has helped me gain a deeper understanding of the game, which helps me read plays and make smarter decisions as a player. Teaching others also sharpens my fundamentals and make me more aware of the small details I might overlook while playing the game. Most importantly, I develop leadership and communication skills that could boost my confidence and presence on the ice.
