To whom it may concern,
I am honored to write this letter of recommendation for Amrit. I had the amazing opportunity to
coach Amrit this past season (2023-2024), and it was such a pleasure working with someone
who gives you 110% at every practice and game. Working with Amrit this season gave me the
incredible opportunity to see the impact she makes on not only her teammates and those
around her, but the impact she has on the sport of volleyball as a whole.
The club decided to only host one 16U team during the 2023/2024 season to compete in the
OVA. It was a newer team, only a few of the players knew each other coming into the season,
so we did start off the season a bit slower, trying to get to know everyone. Amrit, alongside two
other players, really helped everyone feel comfortable with one another, by trying to set a
positive tone and encouraging teammates throughout practices and games.
As our season progressed, we began to see some progress throughout the team and some
success that followed. We secured ourselves a bronze medal at our second OVA tournament,
then upgraded our medal to a silver at the following OVA tournament. We then decided to do
another tournament in Rochester, where we also had some success, bringing home another
silver medal. Amrit was awarded the tournament MVP for her hard work, grit, and determination
to not let that ball hit the ground. To finish off our season, we had an amazing, nail biting,
Provincial tournament. During the semis, we played a team we faced 3 times previously
throughout the season, and unfortunately did not get our redemption against them. We fought
very hard, taking it to 3 sets, but fell short of those 2 points in the final set. It was a devastating
loss for the team, however, we had to shake it off and focus on our bronze medal game. That
game Amrit took the frustration from the previous game, and was on fire! She was locked in on
defense, barely gave the other team any opportunities to score, allowing our offense to really
keep pushing forward. In the end, we secured ourselves the Bronze medal.
While Amrits main asset to the team is her defense, her key value lies in her ability to
communicate constructively and bring all those around up to her level of play. With her drive for
excellence pushing her incredible work ethic, Amrit is one of the most coachable players I’ve
had the pleasure of working with in my past 9 years of being a head coach.
Amrit is not only a pleasure to coach but is an excellent example of how great the sport of
volleyball can be. You can see Amrits passion and drive when she plays. Any coach would
respect the dedication she has to the sport, and cherish the opportunity to train with her!
Sincerely,
Riley Cullis
