Next Level U Statement

My name is Canaan Sherbino and  I am entering my 5th year at Paris District High School. I am a multi-sport athlete who has been on honour roll each year of High School. I am highly competitive and driven to succeed, my goal is to impact a University/College basketball program while building a strong foundation with a business education. I bring an aggressive, versatile offensive game as a three-level scorer, knockdown shooter, and explosive slasher who can break down a defense at any moment. Defensively, I bring relentless energy, take zero plays off, and pride myself on locking down my opponent.

Positions:

Combo Guard

Player Style:

I am a versatile two-way guard/wing who plays with composure and aggression. I can impact the game on both ends of the floor, score at all three levels, defend multiple positions, and make plays within the flow of the offense. I have a relentless motor and look to push the ball in transition. My length allows me to rebound, contest shots and lockdown ball handlers.

Player Strengths:

Leadership/Attitude

I have consistently been a captain on my High School teams. Both in practices and games I lead by example as well as encourage teammates.

Offense

Two of my biggest strengths as an offensive player is my ability to play effectively off the ball and to push the ball in transition. I make quick decisions and look for opportunities to score while staying active and creating space for my teammates. I use my movement to get open, draw defenders, and help create scoring opportunities for others. I focus on making the right play, whether that means scoring myself or helping a teammate get an open look.

Defense

Defensively, I can guard multiple positions and am a strong rebounder who works hard to secure the ball on both ends of the floor. My length and court awareness allows me to create turnovers through deflections and steals. I bring a lot of energy, play fast and physical, stay active, and make things difficult for whoever I’m guarding.

*I’ve always looked for opportunities to challenge myself, compete at a higher level, and continue developing as a player. Each move for Club I’ve made has been about taking that next step. My most recent move to the Kitchener Vipers came after Dundas did not have a U19 team this season, as the players from last year’s team have graduated.
