Next Level U Statement
From an athletic perspective I am interested in playing competitive golf at a 4-year College or University in Canada or the US. Academically, my goal is to complete with my education with a focus on business (commerce/ finance), or health sciences. I would be an asset to any team that is dedicated to working hard, motivated by excellence, and strives to be effective every time they are on the course. The idea of working hard for sport or school does not scare me, it drives me.

“My name is Clinton Schmaltz, I am a Master Teaching Professional with the PGA of Canada. I have the privilege of working with Carter. Although he started relatively late, he has advanced quickly. This is largely in part because of his work ethic, raw athleticism and ability to think his way around the golf course. I would suggest he would be an asset to any team and would be a coaches dream. He is a classic example of the hard working, talented hidden gem we all dream of. “
Scholarship Letter of Recommendation
Carter Degelman
To Whom This May Concern,
We, Ryan Danberg and Derek Ingram, are writing this letter to express our support for Carter Degelman and his application for an athletic scholarship at your college. We have had the pleasure of teaching Carter and have provided him with some guidance and developed a plan to get him very well prepared for what lies ahead, as it relates to his golf career and schooling.
Together, we have over 50+ years in the PGA of Canada, and in multiple roles in the golf industry. Derek, being Canada’s# 1 golf coach, and Ryan, being a player, coach and now golf course owner, have provided him with some tools to become an even better player, and continue to work alongside him, and improve his game, as well as a strong focus on the mental aspect of the game.
During our relationship with Carter, we have experienced an individual who has a strong passion for the game, is accountable, works hard, and carries himself in a polite, respectable manner. This is very important in our process, and in addition, Carter is an exceptional golf player and always maintains a positive attitude towards his sport. It is without reservation that we recommend Carter Degelman as a candidate for this scholarship. If you have any questions or requests do not hesitate to contact me.
Best Regards,
Ryan Danberg, Derek Ingram

Long consistent driver
Consistent, smooth swing
Confident short game including putting
Effective course management
Shot shaping ability
Powerful swing
Diligent in my development
Player Strengths:
I feel confident in all parts of my game. The driver is my favorite club but I also know when not to use it due to course shape or conditions. It gives me confidence to know I can pull out any club in my bag and feel certain I can make the shot needed. My hands around the green give me faith that if I am not on in regulation I can still make par or better. Putting comes naturally to me as I feel I can read greens well, I am able to remain calm and my stroke is consistent and smooth. I believe my confidence, ability to handle pressure and solid course management give me an advantage . I can and have played in all weather conditions which also has helped my ability to shot shape and adapt to playing conditions. Although I am confident, I am also coachable and listen well to feedback and instruction.
Leadership:
U 15 AA Hockey team Assistant Captain-
U 16AA Hockey team Captain- Saskatoon Riverkings
In my 2021-2022 season, I played with the Saskatoon Riverkings. This team is made up of U16 only players, participating in a U18 provincial AA league.
I was voted Captain by the players and had a very successful season. We finished first place in the league.
Through the year, I played a major role in working through some adversity. The Assistant Captains and myself would work together to try to come up with a plan on how to work through some issues and improve communication and respect for one another on and off the ice.
I was effective in my role and enjoyed the responsibility.
Team History:
Holy Cross high school team (high school)
MJT tour member (consisting of multiple tournaments, since 2020)

It is my pleasure to recommend Carter Degelman as a student. Carter is a friendly, hard-working student who is always pushing himself to improve and further his understanding on topics covered in class. He has shown immense dedication to his studies, demonstrating curiosity and critical thinking. He is highly self-motivated and seeks out and responds positively to feedback. He is a leader among his peers, willing to take charge in group projects and he works well as a member of his team in groupwork situations. He is respectful and has fostered good relationships with both staff and peers alike. His strong work ethic and positive attitude would make him an asset to any academic program. – Lucy Falkner
I have been Carter Degelman’s Pre-calculus 11 mathematics teacher for the semester beginning September 2022 in the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy school. In that relatively short amount of time, I have seen significant development in Carter’s mathematical abilities as well as his maturity as a senior student of mathematics. He is steadfastly determined to do his best and goes about this through a combination of diligence, thoughtful reflection, and a willingness to incorporate constructive feedback in his work. I appreciate Carter’s willingness to work in collaboration with his fellow classmates as well as his ability to engage in independent thought in order to fully realize his potential as a student. These skills and attributes are ones that will ensure Carter’s success in his future schooling and athletic endeavors. – Darren Brown
My name is Randy Dunbar, I am a teacher in the Sooke School District and the academic coordinator for the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (PCHA). Carter is currently a member of PCHA’s U18 team. As a student athlete, Carter is a respectful young man who consistently exhibits strong work habits and solid time management skills.
As a member of PCHA, Carter takes all of his electives online. This takes a great deal of self-discipline and independent work habits. Carter has never missed a deadline and is currently achieving an A in all of his online courses. Carter has also taken it upon himself, more than once, to take assignment feedback and resubmit assignments to improve his grade.
In closing, Carter possesses all the components of a successful student. His independent work habits, time management skills along with the care and attention to detail that he puts into assignments, make him an excellent candidate for any academic program. Please do not hesitate to contact me to further discuss Carter’s academic achievement with PCHA.
Sincerely Randy Dunbar
