Our Next Level U Sports student athletes have had a very successful fall collegiate season. Many of our athletes participated in major tournaments for their respective schools in their respective sports. While many of our athletes had tremendous success, there were a handful of who stood out above the rest!
Carter Robart – Men’s Soccer – University of Guelph
Third year goalkeeper Carter Robart had an outstanding season for the Gryphons this past fall, earning a Second Team All-OUA award for his terrific play. The New Dundee, Ontario native made 34 saves on the campaign including a 13 save performance at Waterloo! Well done, Carter!
Simone Timm – Women’s Soccer – Georgia Southern University
The Toronto, Ontario native had a fantastic senior season for the Eagles this season. Timm played in all 19 matches, making 18 starts, for the Eagles as a senior while leading the team with eight goals to go with five assists. Her clutch performances throughout the regular season including a stretch where she scored a goal in five straight matches from Oct. 5-19, the first Eagle to score a goal in five straight matches since Robin Thirsk accomplished the feat from Oct. 11-Nov. 3, 1998, helped Simone earn a first team All-Sun Belt Conference honors as a forward. Congratulations Simone!
Jannelle Ward – Women’s Field Hockey – Saint Joeseph’s University
Jannelle had a great year for the Hawks of Saint Joeseph’s University this past fall. Starting in goal for all 21 of her appearances this year, the graduate student played over 1000 minutes for her team, helping them to a 16-5 record and an Atlantic-10 Championship! The Kitchener, Ontario native also made a career high 7 saves against the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the 2023 National Champions. Great job Jannelle!
Madelin Boyd – Women’s Golf – Ball State University
Madelin Boyd made some great strides in her sophomore year at Ball State University this past fall. Competing in a number of very challenging tournaments, Boyd saved her best performance for last turning in a team and career low 69 (-3) at the opening round of the Diamante Intercollegiate Championship which helped propel her team to a program-record round of 285 (-3) to cap off their season! Well done, Madelin!
Pair of Eastern Canadian Soccer Plays Have Record Season
Two of our NLU alumni competing in eastern Canada had seasons for the record books this past fall. As a member of the St. Francis Xavier X-Men Men’s Soccer team, Logan Rieck had an outstanding season earning himself a USPORTS All-Second Team selection. The third year Cambridge, Ontario native started all 11 games he appeared in, scoring eight goals in the process. Not to be outdone by a fellow NLU alumnus, Josh Oakes of the St. Thomas Tommies of the OCAA took home the CCAA Player of the Year Award this fall. Oakes, a third-year centre back captained the Tommies to a league best 10-0-2 record in the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA). Remarkably, as a defender Oakes led the Conference in scoring with 13 goals and 26 points while also regulating STU’s backline for nine shut outs this season. Well done to both players!
